Frequently Asked Questions

What does “Concierge Psychologist” mean?

“Concierge” simply means personalized and accessible care. Concierge psychology offers a higher level of personalized care—therapy that is thoughtful, flexible, and entirely centered on you. By working with a select number of clients, I’m able to provide greater access, and continuity. Sessions are tailored to your needs and pace, allowing for deeper, more meaningful work without the constraints of insurance or rigid scheduling. It’s a discreet and collaborative approach designed to support growth, clarity, and emotional wellbeing in every area of your life. It’s therapy that fits your life — not the other way around.

How is concierge therapy different from traditional therapy?

In traditional therapy settings, appointments are often limited by insurance schedules or clinic policies. Concierge therapy offers more time, flexibility, and privacy. You work directly with your psychologist (not an assistant or portal queue), and your care is completely customized to your goals and needs.

Think of it like having a “private physician,” but for your mental health — someone you can reach when you need, who knows you well, and who prioritizes your ongoing wellbeing.

How Does Online Therapy Work?

Online therapy offers the same level of care as in-person sessions—just with more convenience. You can join from your (parked) car, office, or a quiet space at home using a secure, HIPAA-compliant video link that is sent before each session. No commute, no stress, and no need to miss work or arrange childcare. All you need is privacy, an internet connection, and a comfortable spot to talk.

How do I start therapy?

Beginning therapy can feel like an important and sometimes delicate step, so I strive to make the process thoughtful and comfortable from the very start.

We’ll begin with a 15 min complimentary phone consultation, where we’ll talk about what brings you to therapy and explore whether my approach may be a good fit for your needs. If it feels right to move forward, we’ll schedule an initial diagnostic session, a 55–60 minute appointment designed to understand your background, clarify your goals, and begin developing a personalized treatment plan. This session also allows us to confirm that your concerns align with my areas of expertise and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions about therapy or the process itself.

After your consultation, you’ll receive a secure link to the Client Portal, where you can complete the necessary forms before your intake. If there’s anything you’d prefer to discuss in person, you’re welcome to bring it up during our first session—your comfort and consent are always prioritized.

Subsequent sessions are typically 50 minutes and focus on deepening insight, building skills, and moving you toward your goals.

What are your fees?

Initial diagnostic appointment: $225   Following sessions: $195

I offer private, fee-for-service care for clients who prefer a more personalized and confidential experience outside the constraints of insurance. This allows us to focus fully on your goals and tailor each session to your needs. Payment is collected at the time of service, and I accept cash, credit or debit cards, for your convenience.

If you wish to use your out-of-network benefits, I’ll provide a detailed statement (superbill) containing everything needed to request reimbursement from your insurance provider. Because each plan is unique, I recommend contacting your insurance company directly to confirm coverage and submission procedures.

Why Would I Pay Out of Pocket When I Have Insurance?

That’s an important question—and one many people wonder about when starting therapy.

Paying privately gives you the freedom to choose the therapist who truly feels like the right match for you, not just someone listed on an insurance panel. Finding that personal fit can make all the difference in your progress and comfort. When you use insurance, a mental health diagnosis is required to process claims. That diagnosis becomes part of your medical record and may follow you in ways you don’t intend—like future insurance or job applications.

Insurance can also create limits around your care, such as how many sessions you’re allowed, how long they last, or what types of therapy are covered. When you pay out of pocket, you have complete privacy and control. You and your therapist decide what feels right for your goals and pace—without restrictions, outside approval, or surprise bills.

In the end, it’s about what’s best for you. If your insurance covers another provider, it’s perfectly okay to explore your options and choose what feels most supportive for your wellbeing.
